Felt Story DIYs
When I stepped into the role of children’s librarian in 2022, I was given freedom to design lessons for my classes, which also meant I had my work cut out for me. I knew that integrating a felt story (also known as a flannel story) into my early childhood library lessons each week would be enjoyed by the children and teachers alike. Felt story resources engage young learners and promote awareness of literacy and rhyming, number sense, a fondness for library classes and a general love of learning. I fondly recalled how our daughters had loved felt stories during storytimes at our local library when they were young, and I thought that was a great place to start!
PROBLEM: I could not find ready-made felt story "kits” that suited my style.
SOLUTION: To know me is to know that I love making things like this! I ultimately ended up creating an entire year’s worth of resources for my early childhood library classes and now I have a bank of felt stories at-the-ready each week.
ENTER TPT: I know I was not alone in looking for resources like this, and that I could help others by creating felt story DIYs to share with educators like me. She’s crafty! This flower-themed felt story DIY is a unique resource - similar to the ones I use with much success with my own classes - but these I am creating to share with educators. This and others are available in my TPT store + you can check them out HERE if this is of interest! Happy making!
